Operations Director – Tesfalem Yemane

Tesfalem joined us in mid November from Retas in Leeds. He is well acquainted with our work and we’re looking forward to the wealth of knowledge and experience he’s already bringing to the role.

After successfully completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Asmara in Eritrea, Tesfalem worked as a Teaching Assistant in Eritrea Institute of Technology (EIT) from 2006 to 2010, where he taught Introduction to Political Science and International Relations. After spending two years in Sudan as a refugee, he went to China in September 2012 and did an MA degree in International Relations.

Tesfalem also holds another MA in African Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Bradford. In the UK, he worked as Employment and Education Advisor with Refugee Education, Training and Advice Service (RETAS), a small refugee organization in Leeds. And he is currently doing his PhD on Migration Studies at the University of Leeds. His areas of interest are on the politics of migration, international-migration relations, refugeeism, migrants’ integration, international relations and peace studies.
